This book, intended for students aged between 9 and 15, shows you different ways of asking questions in English.
Each of the 60 units follows the same pattern. It covers two pages. On the left hand page, we deal with the meaning of a particular word or phrase that is used to form questions. We also give examples of the sort of questions that is used to form. On the right hand page, the same word or phrase is then presented in an everyday or humorous situation illustrated by a set of four cartoons with captions or dialogue.

    The book is divided into 4 sections. Units 1-15 deal with questions using wh-words, that is who, whom, whose, which, what, when, where, why and how. Such questions seek some kind of information and so need an answer other than yes or no. Units 16-26 cover questions using auxiliary verbs such as am, is, are, was, were, do, does, did, has, have, had. These verbs are often used in questions that seek the answer yes or no. Units 27-50 show questions formed using modal verbs such as can, could, shall, will, should, would, may, might, must. These verbs are also often used in questions that seek the answer yes or no. Units 51-60 contain questions made by adding a question tag at the end of a statement to turn it into a question.

    Like all the others in the In Action series, this book aims to increase learners’ confidence and ability to use vocabulary and constructions correctly in different contexts.
