This second book in the Creative English series is based on the Ministry of Education’s 2001 English Syllabus. It is designed to help your child sharpen his or her comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, thinking and writing skills. All the exercises are set in a meaningful context with clear instructions. They will reinforce what the child learns in school. At times, they may cover skills not taken care of in school. While your child can work independently on the book, he or she will get the most out of it if you work with him or her.

    Here are some suggestions for working with your child: Provide a quiet place that is free from distractions. The exercises should be done when your child is not tired. Go over the instructions with your child and discuss the learning experience of each section. Show your interest. Some questions have open-ended answers. Such questions require your child to think. Encourage him or her to explore creative possibilities. Your child’s answer and that in the answer key need not always match. Be patient and encouraging.

    Parental involvement plays an important part in a child’s success in school. I hope this book provides an opportunity for you and your child to work together. Have a fun and fruitful time learning with your child!
