This is why it is such good news to discover a book like Michael Doyle's. Quite unlike what we might expect on such a topic, Michael writes about sometimes-complex legal matters with a careful eye for language, and succeeds in making things refreshingly easy to understand. So much so that it would not actually be unpleasant to go through the whole book before any problems arise. In that way, you'll know where to find the issue you may encounter later, and feel pretty sure that Mike Doyle has got an answer.

The Thai legal system is rooted in culturd. But not, in a sense, purely in Thai culture. Interestingly, this institution in Thailand is not what we would call "indigenous" going back a bundreds of vears. It's been influenced aminly by French and British traditions, owing to visits by Thai senior officials to those countries in the nineteenth and twentieh centuries.
