Reading is the key to developing knowledge. Try to read for pleasure and to gain new information every day. It will help you with all your school subjects by increasing your vocabulary and developing your understanding and ideas. In English Wise: Comprehension you will learn how the knowledge you already have and the knowledge you are busy acquiring help to further your skills. You will learn about different kinds of texts and how they are organized. There are passages to study from autobiographies, stories, reviews and different kinds of information books.

    You will also learn how to skim and scan, find the main ideas and supporting details and to compare one text with another, as well as learning other skills. In English Wise: Comprehension each unit focuses on a particular reading feature or topic. You will be asked to work on your own, or with others, to read, write, research and discuss. Some aspects of grammar are also covered. Your teacher can work with you from unit to unit or select units for you to study.
