This book is a product of teaching the subject to serveral generations of students. It is because of my students that i have tried to be relatively comperhensive, and have made an effort to give straightforward explanations of new terms and concepts. Examples and discussion are provided to make certain that students would clearly understand the contnet. Regarding technical terms, No attempt has been made to avoid them in this book since a mastery of the terminology is an important part of the introduction to any new science. New terms have been introduced in a context making their meaning clear, and have been printed in boldface type at their first appearance. In addition, the definition of most technical terms and concepts have been brought together in the Glossary at the end of the text for a quick reference.
