"Learning Skills Series : English" is a series of three books that teach pre-school children the basic literacy skills for reading and writing. This series is made up of three books, one book for each level from Nursery to Kindergarten 2. This book, written for Nursery children, teaches the basic phonemes or letter sound relationships that dominate the sounding and spelling of words found in a child's everyday oral repertoire. Children are also introduced to the concept of letters and their formation as well as their unique letter sound relationships. This is fundamental to 3 to 4 year old children as they begin to learn how to read and write.

    At the end of each lesson, the child should be able to "say" or read the words aloud without having to refer to picture cues in the book or any other book. The child should also be able to recognise the fact that letters must be combined in a certain order if they are to become meaningful words.
